After going on hiatus at the start of the pandemic, Checkmark officially reopened in the Summer of 2024 with a reading series of new work!
OUR 2024 READING SERIES
After initially being slated for the Spring of 2020, Checkmark produced our second reading series of three, new plays in the Summer of 2024, each written and directed by artists of the global majority. Each play’s creative team was provided with 29 hours of rehearsal, creative feedback from the Checkmark Staff, casting assistance, two public presentations for peers and industry professionals, and artist fees matching the New York City Living Wage of $26/Hour.
At its best, Checkmark gathers likeminded creatives around work that pushes boundaries and provides space where artists are both seen and challenged. It’s been our pleasure to welcome three new playwrights, directors, casts, and production team members to this new era of Checkmark, and we hope you continue following along for updates!
