Supporting artists of the global majority and the telling of their stories.

Checkmark Productions is a New York based production company, founded in October of 2017, with a mission to create a home for artists of the global majority to develop new work in community with likeminded collaborators.

Checkmark supports artists’ personal and professional growth through the development of both theater and film. To do so, we provide space and resources not only to further develop new works in progress, but also to fairly compensate artists at the NYC Living Wage of $26/hour. Across the arts and entertainment industry, there is a severe lack of opportunities offering equitable compensation but, at Checkmark, our budget is a statement of our values, and a principle we believe our industry should universally employ.

Supporting artists of color and their stories will always be our focus and, in doing so, we create conversation, while challenging the limits of storytelling in theater, television, and film.
