Our mission - supporting artists of the global majority and the telling of their stories - has become more critical than ever. While arts organizations cross the country are recovering from the effects of the global pandemic, resources going towards new work development are being cut industry-wide. At Checkmark, we not only create an artistic home that uplifts and challenges artists of the global majority, we also pay every artist a living wage.

What your support can provide...
$250
Rehearsal supplies are needed in every rehearsal room whether they be copies of scripts, binders, writing utensils, or highlighters. With a donation of $250, you can provide the supplies needed for our entire reading series this Spring! Because of you, we'd be prepared and ready to make the most out of every day in rehearsal.

For $500, we can document one public presentation in our Summer Reading Series by hiring videographers for the evening. One of the benefits of developing work at Checkmark is the wide reach of our network and the documentation of our programs helps us maintain the connection between our artists and our community!
$1,040
At the start of Checkmark’s journey, we knew the importance of fairly compensating artists from our own personal experiences. That’s why Checkmark’s first priority is and always will be paying every artist involved the NYC Living Wage of $26/hour. During our upcoming reading series, we will be paying our writers for 40 hours of work, that means your donation of $1,040 will cover one writer’s fee to participate in the series and to develop a new piece of theater.

To produce our 2024 Summer Reading Series, we hired over 40 actors, writers, directors, and crew members, all of whom were paid the NYC living wage of $26/hour. Still, our work has only just begun!
